God Declares You Not Guilty
God declares you not guilty because He forgave all your sins when you received Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord. And because your sins are forgiven, you have peace with God. But what is sin, and when did it start? The Bible is God’s Word, and it tells us that Adam and Eve enjoyed perfect fellowship with God in the Garden of Eden. But when they disobeyed God, they sinned, which gave Satan a victory over them and the world God created.
Sin must be judged by God, who is holy, so He was morally and legally unable to defend Adam and Eve. Hence, they were guilty as charged with no defense, and they became inwardly estranged from God. Consequently, rebellion against God reflects the nature of every human born until the barrier of sin between man and God is removed.
Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me. Psalm 51:5
Sin’s penalty of physical and spiritual death must be paid for.
Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man (Adam), and death through sin, so death came to all men because all sinned. Romans 5:12
Doing enough good works will not save you because sin can only be paid for with sinless blood.
In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness. Hebrews 9:22
You owe a debt you can never pay, so the question is, who can or will pay the penalty for your sin, you or God? One decision leads to eternal death in hell, and the other to eternal life in heaven.
Only God Can Declare You Not Guilty
For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23
God is all-knowing and merciful, so He had a salvation plan in place even before Adam and Eve sinned. The Bible teaches that without the shedding of sinless blood, there is no forgiveness for sin. So, for that reason, Jesus Christ, who was without sin, willingly left the splendor of heaven to pay the death penalty for human sin with His life.
You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man, someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:6-8
Indeed, only Jesus Christ can give eternal life and restore fellowship with God to everyone who believes. Because only in Christ are you declared righteous, not guilty, before God!
God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21
Your debt of sin was paid in full through Jesus’ death on the cross, and God raised Jesus from the dead, proving that He accepted Jesus’ sacrifice for your sins. Have you received Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord? If not, repent of your sins now, and ask God to save you in Jesus’ name.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
Why Do I Still Feel Guilty
If God declares me not guilty, why am I still living with guilt and shame? This becomes a matter of either not knowing or not believing God’s promises. The Bible is God’s Word, and it says that all the demands of the law that you be punished for your wrongdoing have been canceled because in Christ, God declares you “not guilty!”
Jesus paid the penalty for all your sins, past, present, and future. Thus, God has forgiven you and canceled all charges against you by nailing them to the cross. Hence, the question is: Will you believe God’s Word?
When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code with its regulations that was against us and that stood opposed to us; He took it away, nailing it to the cross. Colossians 2:13-14
Jesus is your Advocate, your defender, who intercedes for you in heaven against any charges Satan levels against you.
Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died, more than that, who was raised to life, is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Romans 8:33-34
Christ fulfilled all of God’s laws so that those who believe in Him have peace with God.
Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes. Romans 10:4
God the Father Declares You Not Guilty!
It bears repeating: When you receive Jesus as your Savior, all charges against you are invalidated because the penalty for your sin was removed through Christ’s death and resurrection. Hence, believe God’s Word, and you will begin to see your sins this way: God’s punishment canceled by the blood of Jesus.
Therefore, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.
For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering.
And so he condemned sin in sinful man, in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit. Romans 8:1-4
I pray that you will be set free from guilt and shame by believing that God declares you not guilty! So, stop doubting and instead rejoice! You are forgiven and have eternal life with God forever.
