Have you ever looked around our world and said, “Where is God? Why are the ungodly getting away with everything? Why does injustice prevail? God, why don’t you do something?” God loves to answer honest questions and He has already anticipated them. There was a man in the Old Testament named Habakkuk who really had a problem with those who got away with sin. He recorded God’s answers to some of the same questions we have today.
Habakkuk’s Complaint to God:
Why do you make me look at injustice? Why do you tolerate wrong? Destruction and violence are before me; there is strife, and conflict abounds. Therefore the law is paralyzed, and justice never prevails. The wicked hem in the righteous, so that justice is perverted.
Your eyes are too pure to look at evil; you cannot tolerate wrongdoing. Why then do you tolerate the treacherous? Why are you silent while the wicked swallow up those more righteous then themselves? Habakkuk 1:3-4, 13
The Lord’s Answer:
Judgement Day Is Coming
Then the Lord replied: “Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.” Habakkuk 2:2-3
Throughout the Bible, God tells us that a Day of Judgement is coming when all evil will be destroyed, ending the pain and suffering that sin has caused on earth. It is called the “Day of the Lord” and the choice not to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ will have eternal consequences as it does today.
God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of His power on the day He comes to be glorified in His holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you. 2 Thessalonians 1:6-10
There will be a final battle on earth between the forces of good and evil that will end only because of the return of Jesus Christ.
See, the day of the Lord is coming, a cruel day with wrath and fierce anger to make the land desolated and destroy the sinners within it. I will punish the world for its evil, the wicked for their sins. I will put an end to the arrogance of the haughty and will humble the pride of the ruthless. Isaiah 13:9, 11
In the end, all who oppose God and reject His Son, Jesus Christ, will be destroyed and all evil will be removed from the earth forever.
Satan’s Man of Sin
There is a man coming called the antichrist who will claim divinity, demand worship and who will kill the followers of Jesus Christ. He will lead the forces of demonic power in the final battle called Armageddon. All who are opposed to the rule of God will follow him. The Bible refers to the antichrist as the Man of Sin and the Man of Lawlessness. We see both sin and lawlessness in our world today. The spirit behind the antichrist is Satan, the dragon, who leads the entire world astray. Those who do not believe God’s Word will believe Satan’s lies.
Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour. 1 John 2:18
On that day, the battle lines between the followers of Jesus and those who follow Satan will be clearly drawn and the greatest confrontation in the history of the world will begin. The unholy trinity of the antichrist and the false prophet motivated by Satan will gather the governments and armies of the earth to fight against God.
They are spirits of demons performing miraculous signs, and they go out to the kings of the whole world, to gather them for the battle on the great day of God Almighty. Then they gathered the kings together to the place that in Hebrew is Armageddon. Revelation 16:14, 16
Satan uses human followers to serve His evil purposes. All who speak against the Most High and oppress God’s people have the spirit of antichrist; those who deny Jesus deny God the Father also. We see this spirit increasing in our world today. The Bible is God’s Word and it tells us that anyone who does not repent will spend eternity in Hell.
Speaking of the ten kings of the earth: They have one purpose and will give their power and authority to the beast (the antichrist). They will make war against the Lamb, (Jesus Christ) but the Lamb will overcome them because He is Lord of Lords and King of Kings, and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers. Revelation 17:13-14

The Battle of Armageddon
The Day of the Lord
Wicked, sinful people will unite to fight against God in a final display of rebellion.
The Day of the Lord is coming. It is close at hand, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness. Like dawn spreading across the mountains a large and mighty army comes, such as never was of old nor ever will be in ages to come. Joel 2:1-2
On that day, the whole world will be against God and against His followers, but God is greater than Satan and He is the one who is really in control.
The Lord speaks: I will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will enter into judgment against them concerning my inheritance, my people Israel, for they scattered my people among the nations and divided up my land. Joel 3:2
Below the surface of the routine of our daily life, a fierce struggle among spiritual powers is being waged on earth for the soul of every person. One day, evil forces will gather men and women who oppose the rule of God in their life to unite against God and against His people in a final battle of rebellion against God.
Who are these people who fight against God?
But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. 2 Timothy 3:1-5
If you see yourself in this list, repent and ask Jesus to save you from your sins. He will hear you. Ask God for faith to believe! Jesus came to earth the first time as the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, but He will return again as a Conqueror and King to execute judgment on those who refuse to repent and believe that Jesus is both Savior and Lord.
In the end every nation on earth will gather to fight against Jerusalem, the apple of God’s eye. Think about these verses when watching the news of our world:
The Lord said to Satan, “The Lord rebuke you, Satan! The Lord, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebuke you!” Zechariah 3:2
A prophecy: The Word of the Lord concerning Israel. On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves. On that day, I will set out to destroy all the nations that attack Jerusalem. Zechariah 12:1, 3, 9
The Return of Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ will return to end the battle of Armageddon before mankind destroys itself.
For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now, and never to be equaled again. If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. Matthew 24:21-22
Then the Lord will go out and fight against those nations, as he fights in the day of battle. Zechariah 14:3
The Bible vividly describes the final victory of the Lord Jesus Christ:
I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice He judges and makes war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on Him that no one knows but He Himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and His name is the Word of God.
The armies of heaven were following Him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Out of His mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.” He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On His robe and on His thigh He has this name written: King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Revelation 19:11-16
Then I saw the beast (the antichrist) and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to make war against the rider on the horse and his army. But the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who had performed the miraculous signs on his behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshipped his image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. The rest of them were killed with the sword that came out of the mouth of the rider on the horse, and all the birds gorged themselves on their flesh. Revelation 19:19-21
The Lord defeats Satan and all who were opposed to His rule on earth so the contest of good and evil concludes. The Bible says that God extended His mercy even in the Final Battle but most refused to repent and glorify Him. Only those who repent at this time will escape. What decision have you made?
Jesus Christ Will Rule
The Lord will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one Lord, and His name the only name. Zechariah 14:9
How then should we live our lives on earth?
The day of the Lord will come like a thief. What kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives, as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. 2 Peter 3:11-12
When Christ returns in judgment, unbelievers will suddenly realize they have chosen the wrong side. Everything they have scoffed about will be happening, and unless they repent it will be too late! It is not too late for you! Repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. Don’t hesitate! Bow before your Creator in humble submission and receive His salvation.
“Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.” Revelation 4:8
