Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. Hebrews 12:1-2
My Insight
Believers who lived on earth and are now with God in Heaven persevered and ran the race that God marked out for them. And now it is my turn.
I am to run my race with the endurance and strength of the Holy Spirit as I fix my eyes on Jesus. And I know that others who have already run their race are cheering me on from heaven. God has designed my journey, so He sees the end from the beginning. Therefore, I can trust Him to overcome every obstacle on the path He has chosen for me.
To have a successful journey, God has given me His Bible map with instructions. So, I should refer to His Word often and stay connected to Him in prayer. Then, I will not be afraid or discouraged because God is my traveling companion. And He is delighted when I ask Him to guide my steps. So then, please continue to help me, Father, fix my eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of my faith. Jesus is everything I need for my journey home.

But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me. Micah 7:7
My Insight
There is distress in the world and anxiety in my own heart. So, I remind myself to look to God for help and not allow my circumstances to consume me. And God will certainly answer my prayers, so I will be looking for His answer as I wait.

God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. Amen! John 3:16
My Insight
In today’s world, it is hard to believe in something that you cannot feel, touch, or see. But God requires us to have that faith.

So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak. When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket of Jacob’s hip so that his hip was wrenched as he wrestled with the man. Then the man said, “Let me go, for it is daybreak.” But Jacob replied, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.” The man asked him, “what is your name?’ “Jacob,” he answered. Then the man said,” Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with men and have overcome.” Genesis 32:24-28
My Insight
In the past, I would often wonder about the story of Jacob wrestling with the strong man. The story is interesting because Jacob refused to let him go until the man blessed him. And we find out later that the unnamed strong man is God. So, I asked God for Jacob’s same fervor and determination to hold on through the struggle until God blessed me. God pointed out that what Jacob did was hold on to God. It didn’t matter that the night got dark, and the fight got rough. Jacob held on, as I must hold on to my faith in God, in all things. For I will indeed be tested, but let that faith be unshakeable.

I also thought of who Jacob was, with his past of repeated lies and mess-ups. But he repented, and from that point on, he devoted himself to doing what was right and submitting to God’s guidance in his life. Jacob had to look past all of the former wrongs that would disqualify him from being worthy of a blessing and instead dug in his heels in determination.
His actions seemed to say that there’s nothing left in this world for me but you, God. If I let go, I’d be lost. So, I am not letting go. Take me as I am and make me what I ought to be. And God did. He renamed Jacob, the name that meant deceiver, and called him Israel, one who struggles with God. After the struggle, Jacob received the blessing. And so, it goes in life. It may not be easy, for we all must go through difficulties in life. But it will be worth it because after we’ve endured in faith, we receive the blessing.

Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, fenced and hidden, which you do not know. Jeremiah 33:3
My Insight
God wants us to trust Him. So, if we call upon His Name, He is always willing to listen.

Do not be anxious about ANYTHING, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding WILL guard your heart and your mind in Christ. Philippines 4:6-7
My Insight
I’ve known this verse for years, quoting it and re-reading it many times over. But, for the first time today, the words “EVERYTHING” and “REQUEST” stood out. So, to me, verse 6, “in everything,” means that even when I feel that God is not using me, or when my joy feels depleted, this verse says to “make your REQUEST known to God.
So, intentionally tell God when you are anxious, and follow-through by requesting what you think you need or want from God. It may feel juvenile to ask Him to hold your hand or to ask Him to spiritually get in his lap so you can rest in His arms. But this is what we all CAN do. We are always welcome to “Be” with Him. …7) Then, “THE PEACE of God which transcends understanding will guard your heart and your minds in Christ.”

My Insight
I have found several Bible verses in the Word that have made me realize what God does. He refers one’s heart to Scripture when He knows that a Disciple of his has strayed. Hosea 4:6: “My people are lost due to a lack of knowledge and understanding of my teachings.” And I came across another interesting verse in Nehemiah 8:8. When we open the Bible and learn more about God, let’s praise God, worship Him, and seek to discover what He is saying to us. “The goal of Bible study is not just learning but living!” Amen.

Jesus told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all your seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and perch in its branches.” Matthew 13:31-32
My Insight
In my heart, the parable of the mustard seed says that the more we read God’s Word and share it, the more we grow in our understanding of Him.
