Who Rules?

Posted on August 20, 2014 · Posted in Bible Truth, Jesus Christ

Who rules your daily life, you, or God?  Who leads and who makes decisions, you, or God?  The question to honestly ask yourself daily is, “who is in charge?”  Review the questions again and ask yourself if your answers reflect your actions this week or even today?  If you usually rule your life are you pleased with the results?  Are you ready to step down from the throne of your life and hand God the scepter?  Today is the day to surrender your life to Him.

Almighty God rules with power and authority and He will continue to rule forever.

You, O Lord, reign forever; your throne endures from generation to generationLamentations 5:19

God has the Right to Rule

God exalted him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.  Philippians 2:9-11

No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.  1 John 2:23

Jesus is the Good Shepherd.  Allow Him to lead you.

He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.  When He has brought out all His own, He goes on ahead of them and His sheep follow Him because they know His voice.  John 10:3-4

Jesus is King of Kings and Lord of Lords.  There can only be one ruler in your life.

You Decide Who Rules Everyday

God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of Kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see.  To Him be honor and might forever.  Amen.  1 Timothy 6:15-16

A king must have subjects who bow before His sovereign rule, and this is the problem is it not?  The question of who is on the throne of your life must be answered daily, and a decision must be made.  Who will lead?  Keep watch over your heart as this will be a daily question to ask yourself.  Will you ask God to help you to change your allegiance from yourself to Christ and allow Him to rule?  Jesus leads those who have received Him and obey Him, and in the end, He will lead them home to live with Him forever.

But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord.  1 Peter 3:15

It is written: “As surely as I live, says the Lord, every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.”  So, then each of us will give an account of himself to God.  Romans 14:11-12

Only your Creator has the sovereign right to rule, and God is pleased when you ask for His help, and when you depend on Him.  God is pleased when He leads, and you follow Him in Jesus’ name because you trust that He knows best.  God is pleased when you put His will above your own because you know Him from His Word and rely on His Spirit.

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?  You are not your own, you were bought at a price.  Therefore, honor God with your body.  1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Surrender and Allow Christ to Rule

Rest in Him

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”  Matthew 11:28-30

If you have been leading more than following in your relationship with God, confess this and ask for His help to switch the order.  You give Jesus all your burdens, along with your “to-do list,” in exchange for His supernatural peace.  Commit yourself to prayer first thing every morning and ask God to order your day and redeem your time before your day even begins.  Put God in charge and allow Him to give you a different day than the one you would have planned.  Surrender your will to do His will, and you will find rest in Him.

Commit time each day to know the Lord Jesus Christ from His Word.  You will then begin to trust and follow Him.  Learn to walk by faith and not by sight.  Choose to begin your day with God rather than apart from Him, and you will feel His pleasure.  Rely on His supernatural strength and peace to envelop you, especially when things go wrong.  We live in a sinful world, so we also need to rely on Him to put away sin in ourselves.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.  Proverbs 3:5-6

Hear Jesus Speak to You from His Word

The Great Shepherd of the Sheep

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow Me.  I and the Father are one.  John 10:27, 30

Whoever serves me must follow Me; and where I am, my servant also will be.  My Father will honor the one who serves me.”  John 12:26

My Prayer for You

May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing His will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to Him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever.  Amen.  Hebrews 13:20-21

Only He who wore the crown of thorns has the Sovereign right to rule!  Is the Lord Jesus your Shepherd and King?
