Not Guilty!

Posted on August 18, 2014 · Posted in Bible Truth, Freedom in Christ, Our Adversary

When you received Jesus as your Savior, He forgave your sins and pronounced you not guilty!  You have peace with God.  What is sin and where did it start?  Adam and Eve enjoyed perfect fellowship with God in the Garden of Eden but when they disobeyed God, they sinned and gave Satan a foothold within them.  As a result, God was morally and legally unable to defend them because God is holy, and He is also just.  Adam and Eve were guilty as charged with no defense.  They became inwardly estranged from God, and so it is for their sons and daughters today until the barrier of sin between man and God is removed.

Sin’s penalty must be paid for

Because

The wages of sin is death

Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned.  Romans 5:12

You cannot save yourself because you are sinful.  Sin must be paid for with sinless blood.

In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.  Hebrews 9:22

The question is, who will pay?

You owe a debt you can never pay

So

You need a Savior

Jesus willingly laid down His sinless life to pay the penalty for man’s sin, which is spiritual and physical death.  Only Jesus can give eternal life and restore fellowship with God to everyone who believes.  Only in Christ are you declared righteous, not guilty, before God!  Ponder this truth and believe it!

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.  2 Corinthians 5:21

For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 6:23

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.  Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die.  But God demonstrates His own love for us in this:  While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  Romans 5:6-8

Jesus Paid Your Debt of Sin in Full

Have you believed in Jesus, but you are still living with guilt and shame, not understanding that Jesus has paid your debt for sin in full?  All the demands of the law that you be punished for your wrongdoing have been cancelled.  Christ died on the cross for the penalty of sin and has declared you not guilty!   God has forgiven you in Christ, and He has canceled all charges against you by nailing them to the cross.

When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ.  He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code with its regulations that was against us and that stood opposed to us; He took it away, nailing it to the cross.  Colossians 2:13-14

Jesus is your Advocate, your defender who defends you in Heaven against any of Satan’s charges for your past and present sins, as well as your future sins.

Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen?  It is God who justifies.  Who is he that condemns?  Christ Jesus, who died, more than that, who was raised to life, is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.  Romans 8:33-34

Christ is the end of the law for all who believe.

Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.  Romans 10:4

You Have Been Declared Not Guilty!

There is now no condemnation against you.  Believe what God says in His Word and begin to see your debt of sin with canceled by Jesus stamped on it.

Therefore, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.  For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering.  And so he condemned sin in sinful man, in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.  Romans 8:1-4

I am praying that by believing God’s Word, you will be set free!  If “Not Guilty” has helped you, print it for yourself and share it with someone.
