Is Jesus Your Savior?

Is Jesus Your Savior?

Is Jesus your Savior? If you answered no, you probably feel an unexplained emptiness and wonder if there isn’t more to life than an earthly existence. The good news is that God, your Creator, designed you to live in a relationship with Him and live a life of purpose that He planned for you. But so far, you have chosen your own path in life, which has taken you far from God. Indeed, now is the time to come home to your heavenly Father, and Jesus knows the way.

Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”  John 14:6

God desires that today be the day of your salvation, but the first question you might ask is, “Why do I need salvation?” Because you were born physically, but unless you are born again spiritually, you cannot know God or understand His ways. Therefore, you must be born again by the Spirit of God.

To be Born Again, Trust Jesus as Your Savior

Jesus declared, “I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.” John 3:3

You must be born again spiritually by the Holy Spirit to have a personal relationship with God and enter heaven. Hence, out of God’s great love and mercy, He provided His Son, Jesus Christ, who is both God and man. Therefore, Salvation is found only in Jesus Christ, who willingly left heaven to die on the cross to save us from our sins.

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12

According to this verse, the only way to be saved is to believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior. And when you believe, God gives you the gift of the Holy Spirit to indwell you. Indeed, He is the evidence that you are born again.

And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Romans 8:9, 16

Jesus is Your Only Savior from Sin

All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23

Every person born needs a Savior because we have broken God’s laws and disobeyed His commands, so no one is righteous before God. Only Jesus can save you because He was without sin and obeyed the will of God perfectly on earth.

Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. But you know that He appeared so that He might take away our sins. And in Him is no sin. 1 John 3:4-5

God is holy, and man is sinful, so without a relationship with Jesus Christ, the Bible says that we do not know God. Although many claim to know Him, they live as practical atheists because they do not obey God’s Word. Instead, they want to do what they want, not what God wants, so they ignore Him. And the Bible calls our rebellion against God sin.

Sin is Like a drop of poison in water.

Love for God and love for sin cannot coexist because sin is like a drop of poison in the water. Even though it is only a drop, drinking it has consequences:  It will kill you!

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23

Why Only Jesus Can Save You

God is holy and without sin, but every person born since Adam and Eve is bent towards evil. For example, no one naturally loves God or wants to do His will. Furthermore, no one naturally loves God’s Word, the Bible, nor does someone naturally pray. We are spiritually dead and can neither acknowledge God nor obey Him.

Moreover, because the sin of self-interest deeply stains us, even our good deeds are tainted with sin. Internally, we take credit for the good things we do, so the sins of pride and self-righteousness only increase.

We are all infected and impure with sin. When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags. Isaiah 64:6

Reread the verse because it is a wake-up call! Do not be deceived into thinking you are a good person who does not need Jesus to save you. Instead, remember the drop of poison in water: Even one sin will keep you from heaven, where Holy God dwells. Therefore, you need the righteousness that only salvation in Jesus Christ can give you because you owe a debt for your sins that you can never pay!

To illustrate, when you break the law in the physical world, you must pay the penalty. Likewise, in the spiritual world, the penalty for sin is eternal death, which must also be paid. But you are unable to pay the required punishment because you are sinful. The good news is that Jesus Christ is sinless, so only He can pay your sentence and give you His righteousness in return.

God made Him (Jesus) who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21

Jesus Paid the Death Penalty to Save You

Why did Jesus have to die for my sins? The Bible reveals a spiritual law to answer this question.

The law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness. Hebrews 9:22

According to this spiritual law, sinless blood is the only payment for sin, so again, it is impossible to save yourself! Fortunately, Jesus Christ, holy and without sin, willingly left heaven to be the perfect sacrifice needed to forgive your sins. Amazingly, Jesus shed his blood on the cross to pay the penalty for all your sins while you were still in your rebellion!

But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

The Bible teaches that God was satisfied with His Son’s sacrifice for sin, and He raised Jesus from the grave. Today, Jesus sits at the Father’s right hand, and He promises to return.

Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. After that, He appeared to more than five hundred…1 Corinthians 15:3-6

Repent and Receive Jesus as Your Savior

Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. “The time has come,” He said. “The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!” Mark 1:14-15

It was a January day in 1975 when I realized that I was living my life, ignoring God, and going my separate way apart from His will. In my heart, I believed Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins and rose from the grave three days later. So, I confessed my sins to God and asked Jesus Christ to enter my heart to be my Lord and Savior. The moment I acknowledged my sins and believed in Jesus as my Savior, I was born again spiritually and received God’s gift of the Holy Spirit.

Indeed, God’s mercy led me to confess my sins and believe in Jesus Christ for my salvation. So, will you repent when you recognize that you have sinned against God? To repent from sin is to turn from your sins to God alone for forgiveness.

Jesus said: “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” Luke 5:31-32

If you are ready, admit to yourself and God that you have sinned against Him with passive indifference or active rebellion. Now, ask God To forgive you in Jesus’ name. Importantly, believe God hears your sincere prayer of faith and will forgive your past, present, and future sins. Indeed, when you repent of your sins and believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, you are born again spiritually.

God said:  For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more. Hebrews 8:12

Believe in Jesus and Live a Transformed Life

For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.

Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.  John 3:16-18

My life began to change after I believed in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. For example, I now wanted to read the Bible, and the Holy Spirit gave me understanding. In addition, I looked forward to church, and by faith, He empowered me to put away sin. The changes in me were miraculous because, before my salvation, I was spiritually dead, and now I am alive spiritually and want to follow Jesus.

Indeed, I am a new creation in Christ, born again by the Holy Spirit. And God will continue to transform me into the image of His Son, Jesus until I see Him face to face.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17

Did You Pray to Receive Jesus as Your Savior

If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Romans 10:9-10

If you prayed to receive Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, be assured that God has forgiven you and made you His beloved child. You are born again by the Holy Spirit, who now lives in you, and you have eternal life. Therefore, continue to depend on Jesus by faith, and He will help you live your life in obedience to God’s Word.

However, if you have never repented and asked Jesus to save you, you can pray the following prayer:

Lord God, I have sinned against you, so please forgive me. I believe Jesus Christ willingly sacrificed His life on the cross to pay for all my sins and take away my guilt. And then, three days later, you raised Jesus from the grave. So, I invite you, Lord Jesus, to come into my heart and live your life through me. It is in Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

And this is the testimony:  God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.  He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.  I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.  1 John 5:11-13

Welcome to the Family of God
