But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me. Micah 7:7

My Insight

There is distress in the world and anxieties in my own heart. I am reminded to look to God for help and not be consumed with my circumstances. God will certainly answer my prayers so I will be looking for His answer as I wait.

God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.  Amen!  John 3:16

My Insight

In today’s world it is hard to believe in something that you cannot feel, touch, or see. But God requires us to have that faith.

Stasie/Huntington, NY

So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak.  When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket of Jacob’s hip so that his hip was wrenched as he wrestled with the man.  Then the man said, “Let me go, for it is daybreak.” But Jacob replied, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.”  The man asked him, “what is your name?’  “Jacob,” he answered.  Then the man said,” Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with men and have overcome.”  Genesis 32:24-28

My Insight

Many times in the past my mind would wonder about the story of Jacob wrestling with the strong man throughout the night. Jacob refused to let him go until the man blessed him. We later find out that the unnamed strong man is God.
As I prayed, I asked for the same fervor and determination as Jacob to hold on through the struggle until I witnessed God’s blessing. God pointed out that what Jacob did was hold on to God. It didn’t matter that the night got dark and the fight got rough. Jacob held on (as I must hold on to my faith in God, in all things for surely I am & will be tested, but let that faith be unshakeable).
I had to think of who Jacob was, with his past of repeated lies and mess ups. Then he repented as he ran from the anger of his brother Esau and from that point on devoted himself to doing what was right and submitting to God’s guidance in his life. Jacob had to look past all of his former wrongs that would disqualify him from being worthy of a blessing and instead dug in his heels in determination. His actions in a way said, there’s nothing left in this world for me but You God. If I let go, I’d be lost. I am not letting go. Take me as I am, and make me what I ought to be.
And God did. He renamed Jacob (the name which meant deceiver) and called him Israel (meaning one who struggles with God). After the struggle, Jacob received the blessing. And so it goes in life. It may not be easy, for we all must go through difficulties in life. But it will be worth it because after we’ve endured in faith we receive the blessing.

Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, fenced and hidden, which you do not know.  Jeremiah 33:3

My Insight

God wants for us to trust Him, if we call upon His Name He is always willing to listen.

Kari/Tucson, AZ

Do not he anxious about ANYTHING, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding WILL guard your heart and your mind in Christ. Philippines 4:6-7

My Insight

I’ve known this verse for years quoting it and re-reading many Times over. For the first time today the words “EVERYTHING” and “REQUEST” stood out. In verse 6 “in everything” means to me even when I’m having feeling I’m not being used by Him or when my Joy feels depleted. verse 6 also states to “make your REQUEST known to God. Thus means to be active in intentionally addressing what your anxious about AND follow through with requesting what it us you think need or want from God in this.
It may feel juvenile to ask Him to hold our hand or allow you to spiritually get in his lap and be held while you rest in His arms. This is exactly what we CAN do….we are allowed to “Be” with Him. …7) “THE PEACE of God which transcends understanding will guard your heart and your minds in Christ”. …
And with wings like eagles He rejuvenated our strength.

My Insight:

I have found quite a few Bible verses in the Word that has really opened my eyes to realize that God does refer one’s heart to scripture when He knows a Disciple of his has strayed. Hosea 4:6:   “My people are lost due to a lack of knowledge and understanding of my teachings”.  I came across another interesting verse in Nehemiah 8:8.  When we open the Bible and learn more about God, lets praise God, worship Him, and seek to discover what He is saying to us. “The goal of Bible study is not just learning but living!”  Amen.
