How To Be Born Again

Posted on August 17, 2014 · Posted in Gospel, Jesus Christ

Is your life confusing in this world?  Do you often feel lost and empty with thoughts that there surely must be more to life?  You are right!  God has designed you to live in relationship with Him and to live the abundant life that He has planned for you.  God desires that today be the day of your salvation!   I pray that God will open your eyes to see spiritually and that He will give you understanding as you read.

The Bible tells us about a man named Nicodemus who was also searching.  His story is told in John 3:1-8.

Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish ruling council.  He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God.  For no one could perform the miraculous signs you are doing if God were not with him.”

In reply Jesus declared, “I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.”

You would probably ask the same question that Nicodemus asked, “How can a man be born when he is old?”

Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.  Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.  ‘The wind blows wherever it pleases.  You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going.  So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.

The Gospel

Only Jesus Saves

“For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.  Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”  John 3:16-18

There was a day in January 1975 that I confessed to God that I was a sinner, and He heard my prayer.  I had lived my life ignoring God and going my own way apart from Him.  I understood and believed that Jesus died on the cross for my sins and rose again.  I confessed my sins and I asked Jesus to forgive me and save me.  The moment I believed in Jesus as my Savior from sin, I received God’s gift of the Holy Spirit and I was born again.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 6:23

As I began to read the Bible, my life began to change from following myself and the world’s thinking to following Jesus and His will for my life.  I became a new person in Christ by faith, and as I continue to believe and trust in Jesus, God will transform me by the power of the Holy Spirit until I see Him face to face.  I have decided to follow Jesus.  Have you made that decision?

Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6

When you receive Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, God gives you His gift of the Holy Spirit to live within you.  He will teach you from God’s Word, and give you understanding as you rely on Him.  He will also guide you, comfort you and empower you to no longer live for yourself but for Jesus.

And you were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation.  Having believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession, to the praise of His glory.  Ephesians 1:14-14

After I invited Jesus into my life, the Holy Spirit within me began to motivate and empower me to want to please God and to do His will.  I am a new creation in Christ, born of the Holy Spirit, whom God continues to transform.  Have you been born again by the Spirit of God?  A Christian is anyone who has the Spirit of God living in him or her.

And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.  Romans 8:9

The Holy Spirit is God’s promise or guarantee of eternal life for those who believe in Jesus.  If you have sincerely trusted Jesus for your salvation and acknowledged Him as Lord, then the Holy Spirit has come into your life and you are a born again Christian.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!  2 Corinthians 5: 17

Jesus Died and Rose Again

The Bible teaches that God was satisfied with Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross for sin and God raised Him up from the grave on the third day.  Today, Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father and He has promised to return.

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.  He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.  Come and see the place where He lay.  Then go quickly and tell His disciples; ‘He has risen from the dead is going ahead of you into Galilee.  There you will see Him.’ Now I have told you.”  Matthew 28:5-7

Someone I know expressed God’s mercy like this: “I know now that Jesus hung on the cross and was shamed and beaten and broken in my place.  I am the sinner that deserved to die.  I am the one that deserved to be punished for my sin.  Jesus was perfect and without sin, yet He traded places with me and took my punishment so that I did not have to pay the penalty for my sin.  With His help I now want to serve Him with my life.”

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.  Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die.  But God demonstrates His own love for us in this:  While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  Romans 5: 6-8

Ask Jesus to Save You

He Hears You

Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.  “The word is near you, it is in your mouth and in your heart.” that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming:  That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”  Romans 4, 8-10

Receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior

Give me faith, O God, to believe for the glory of your name.  I believe that Jesus is my only Savior from sin who died on the cross for my sins and rose again.  Thank you that you are forgiving and good, O Lord, abounding in love to all who call on you.  I ask you to deliver me now and forgive all my sins.  in Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Did you pray to receive Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins?  If so, welcome to the family; you are now born again.  The Bible says it is important to tell someone!  Contact Me

Jesus said, “There will be more rejoicing in Heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.”  Luke 15:7

You can be assured that when you believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior, you are saved from the penalty and power of sin.  The Holy Spirit now lives in you and you have eternal life.

And this is the testimony:  God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.  He who has the Son has life; He who does not have the Son of God does not have life.  I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.   1 John 5:11-13
